Basis in Fact is a short film that I scripted and directed. This short film explored multicultural relationships and was inspired by the experiences that a girlfriend was going through at the time.
The theme is the impact of cultural differences. The couple—Eddie and Sabine—have met and fallen in love while backpacking and marry. The story starts when they decide to live in Australia, a very different cultural experience than backpacking or Sabine's German background. Sabine becomes isolated and feels bombarded by the Australian culture.
This film was shot on the first digital prosumer panasonic camera.
