Carnival Hour Plays Competition

I have entered into the Toowoomba Repertory Theatre, Carnival Hour Plays competition. They have changed their format. This year the play must be 50–75 minutes long. The winners will workshop their play with the theatre group and a dramaturg. The winning two plays will be shown at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers in September.

Top 9 Entrants for One Act Play Competition

I came in the top 9 out of over 70 entrants. I am really excited about this. This gave me the opportunuity to receive feedback from the three official judges. Quality feedback was worth so much more than the prizes. I would like to thank the Toowoomba Repertory theatre and the judges for this competition. I am going to rework this play. You never know, it may be on stage sometime in the near future.

Anne Brooksbank is the AFI Award winning writer of Newsfront—one of the most celebrated Australian films of all time. She has also written episodes for TV shows such as Halifax f.p. and Water Rats.
